Immigration police raided a European-style luxury mansion in Bangkok's Bang Bon district at 10PM on Wednesday after a neighbor reported large numbers of foreigners entering and leaving the property under suspicious circumstances. Officers led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanthana Nuchanart, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, obtained a search warrant and entered the property on Soi Ekkachai 112. Inside, they found what authorities described as a fully operational call-center scam targeting Japanese victims. The second floor had been divided into workspaces where operators made calls using Japanese-language scripts posted on the walls. A separate room was used to transfer victims to another line, while Japanese police uniforms hung on racks alongside fake identification badges from various Japanese police stations.

Fifteen people were arrested, including Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese and Thai nationals. The gang allegedly posed as Japanese police officers, telling victims they were under investigation and pressuring them to transfer money. The property had reportedly been rented through a Thai nominee on behalf of a Chinese boss for more than a year, with monthly rent of ฿900,000. Officers also found gambling equipment and drugs on the premises. It is the second luxury-property scam raid in Bangkok this month, following the 13-person arrest at a Bang Phli mansion we covered last week.
