🗞️ TOP STORIES

A 16-year-old street performer from Phuket just earned four yeses on America's Got Talent.

Rattikarn "Praew" Amloy, who performs under the stage name Nene Royal, has gone from entertaining crowds on the streets of Phuket to receiving a standing ovation on one of the biggest talent shows in the world. The 16-year-old Thai singer impressed all four judges on America's Got Talent, earning four unanimous yeses and advancing to the next round of the competition. For many viewers, it was the first introduction to a performer who spent years building her confidence singing for tourists and locals on Phuket's streets before stepping onto an international stage.

Her audition has quickly spread across social media in Thailand, with many celebrating the achievement as one of the country's biggest international entertainment moments this year. Street performance has long been part of Thailand's tourism culture, but it rarely serves as a direct pathway to global television. Nene's story is a reminder that some of the country's biggest talent is discovered long before it reaches record labels or television studios. At just 16 years old, she now represents Thailand in front of millions of viewers worldwide.

Bottom Line: Thailand has produced another international success story. A teenager who started performing on Phuket's sidewalks is now competing on America's biggest talent stage, and regardless of how far she goes, she's already become one of Thailand's most inspiring stories of the year.

Operation Dragon Scale has issued 40 arrest warrants over an alleged fake-father citizenship scheme.

Thai authorities have launched Operation Dragon Scale, an investigation into what police describe as a large-scale citizenship fraud network that allegedly used Thai men as fake fathers on birth registrations to obtain Thai citizenship for children of foreign nationals. Investigators have secured 40 arrest warrants after uncovering evidence linking fraudulent birth certificates, nominee arrangements and immigration violations. The operation follows months of investigation and represents one of the largest citizenship-fraud cases uncovered in Thailand in recent years.

Officials say the investigation stretches well beyond individual forged documents. The alleged scheme exploited Thailand's birth registration system, allowing children to obtain Thai nationality through falsified family records. Police believe brokers coordinated the process by recruiting Thai nationals willing to falsely acknowledge paternity in exchange for payment. Authorities say additional investigations remain ongoing as they examine whether the network is connected to wider immigration and nominee business operations.

Bottom Line: Thailand has spent much of this year tightening enforcement around nominee businesses, immigration violations and identity fraud. Operation Dragon Scale shows those efforts are expanding, with authorities now targeting organized networks rather than isolated offenders.

🍨 SPOT OF THE DAY

Creamery Boutique Ice Creams (←Click For Directions)

Bangkok has no shortage of dessert cafés, but Creamery Boutique Ice Creams has managed to stay near the top of the list for more than a decade. Since opening in 2012, it has built a reputation around freshly baked cookies, warm desserts and handcrafted ice cream made in small batches. While the famous cookie-and-ice-cream combinations still draw regulars, the rotating seasonal flavors are what keep people coming back. Thai tea, salted egg yolk, mango sticky rice, coconut and other locally inspired creations regularly appear alongside classic favorites.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, making it just as suitable for a casual afternoon dessert as a late-night sweet stop. With a 4.8-star rating from more than 700 Google reviews, Creamery has become one of those places Bangkok residents recommend without hesitation. Portions are generous, prices remain reasonable, and the menu extends beyond ice cream to include lava cookies, waffles and homemade desserts that are perfect for sharing.

TIP: Order one of the freshly baked cookies with a scoop of ice cream instead of just the ice cream by itself. It's what made Creamery famous. Expect to spend around ฿79-189 per person. Arrive in the evening if you want the full dessert café atmosphere.
